Obituary

Ciara Renee Ellis, a resident of Shawnee, OK passed away on June 23, 2025 in Tecumseh at the age of 33.  Ciara was born on December 12, 1991 in Millington, Tennessee to Kevin Mark Ellis and MaryAnn (Briggs) Ellis.

Ciara attended Talking Leaves Job Corp and graduated in 2009.  Following graduation Ciara began working with senior adults in a nursing home environment.  She quickly became great friends with almost every resident she served.   She had a great sense of humor which drew people to her and made her such a delight to know.  She loved her job and the residents loved her.  Ciara was baptized at a young age at Salateeska Church of Shawnee.   Most of all, she loved her children and was a delightful and supportive family member.  She was a loving daughter, mother, aunt and friend and she will be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Aileen Ellis; her grandfather, Russell Ellis; her grandfather, Ron Briggs; a great grandpa, Weldon Prater; a great grandpa, Frank Little Axe; an aunt, Christy Ellis; an uncle, Jody Briggs; grandmother, Linda Ellis; a sister-in-law, Andrea Jean Ellis; and a cousin, Victor Lowe.

Ciara is survived by her parents, Mary Ann Ellis and Doug Johnson of Shawnee and Kevin Ellis of Shawnee; a daughter, Aumarie Ellis of Elgin, OK; 3 sons, Jackson Ellis and Ryan Ellis of Dale; and Dakota Ellis of Elgin; a brother, Mark Ellis and his daughter, Sydney Ellis of Shawnee; a brother, Drew Ellis & Wife Tariah of Earlsboro; a nephew, Bronn Ellis of Earlsboro and niece, Allie Ellis of Earlsboro; by other extended family and many good friends.

Viewing for Ciara will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 5pm to 8pm at McElyea & Owens Funeral Home located at 5106 N Harrison in Shawnee.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 2:00pm at Taproot Church, located at 22 E Dunloup in Shawnee with Victor Cope officiating.  Services are under the direction Shawnee McElyea & Owens Funeral Group.

Psalms 23:4 "Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."
