Karen W Hutchison, a resident of Crescent, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in an Oklahoma City hospital at the age of 84. Karen was born on May 30, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Vernon Wright and Laloise (McGee) Wright. Karen married Robert Hutchison in 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Karen attended the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond where she earned a Master's degree in Education. Karen taught school in the Guthrie Public Schools for a number of years. Later she worked as a school teacher within the Department of Corrections. During her adult life she also carried mail for approximately 40 years, operated her own lawn service company, worked as a volunteer with Red Cross, and spent time as a census taker. She was always on the look for stray animals and people and she loved providing for their care. Karen is preceded in death by both her mother and father, Laloise and Vernon Wright; by her son, Garth Frederick Hutchison; by her sister, Sheryl Glenn-Allen; by a great grandson, Asher Rain Hutchison. She is survived by her son, Adam Hutchison of the home in Luther; by 5 grandchildren, Andrea Phillips and husband Wesley of Geronimo, OK; Samantha Hutchison and Zach Harrison of Elk City, OK; Spencer Hutchison of Oklahoma City, OK, Alexander Hutchison and wife Ashley of Crescent, OK, and by Morgan Hutchison of Tecumseh; by four great grandchildren, Kade Phillips, Karter Phillips, and Kendall Phillips, all of Geronimo, OK and Axel Hutchison of Crescent; by other extended family and many good friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
