Obituary

Marlys Lee (Ercanbrack) Sitter, a resident of Shawnee, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the age of 62.  Marlys was born on August 27, 1960, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents Bob and Eula Ercabrack.  At the age of three, she moved with her parents to the Oklahoma City area.  Marlys attended high school at Living Word Academy.  After high school, she then attended and graduated from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma with a degree in Education.  Upon graduation, she worked with challenged young adults and she loved working with them.  After that, Marlys went on to teach kindergarten for 11 years at Herinville School in Oklahoma City.

On October 5, 1985 Marlys married the love of her life, David Lee Sitter.  Together they had a son, Nickolas Lee Sitter, who was born on November 30, 1998.  Marlys loved to sell antiques, listen to music, and to go to the movies and hockey games.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, and mother and she will be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.

Marlys was preceded in death by both her mother and father, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

She is survived by her husband, David Sitter of the home; a son, Nickolas Lee Sitter of Tulsa; two sisters, Susan Fields and husband Darren Hockman of Portland, OR and Joy Lundy and husband Dave of Keys; as well as other extended family and many good friends.

Viewing for Marlys will be held on Thursday evening, February 16, 2023, from 6pm to 8pm at McElyea & Owens Funeral Home, 5106 N. Harrison in Shawnee.

Funeral Services for Marlys will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Little Church of Christ near Seminole with Larry Vickers officiating.  Interment will follow immediately at Little Cemetery, next door to the church.  Services are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group.

Pallbearers will be Jan Halderman, Barry Stemer, Nickolas Peterson, John Ware, Nickolas Sitter, and Jim Herrin.  Honorary bearers will be Dana Levisay, Paul Buckmaster, Billy Christansen, and Michael Sitter.
