Sandra Diane Whisnant, a resident of Cromwell, OK, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday morning, October 17, 2024 in Shawnee at the age of 59. Sandra was born on August 8, 1965 in Wewoka, OK to Robert Ray Whisnant and Joyce Leona (Williams) Whisnant.
Sandra grew up on the back roads of Seminole and Okfuskee counties where she graduated from Bearden and Butner public schools. She was a member of the Bearden Holiness Church. Throughout the years she worked as a CNA at several of the local nursing homes. Sandra's greatest joy was being a grandma, boy did she love her grandbabies. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, friend, and Aunt Nana. She is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Whisnant; her paternal and maternal grandparents; baby sisters Roberta and Cheryl Whisnant; brother Billy Whisnant; grandson Atlas Williams and great-nephew Cooper Little. Sandra is survived by her father, Robert Ray Whisnant and wife Sandy of Drumright; daughter Miley Williams and husband Nathan of Shawnee; two sons, Bugsy Wind of Cromwell; Cheyenne Wind and wife Deanaira of Cromwell; brother Bobby Whisnant of Cromwell; two sisters, Cleta Whisnant and Gay Whisnant both of Cromwell; twelve grandchildren, Jayce, River, and Phierce Williams of Shawnee; Madison, Raegan, Keaton, and Ryder Wind of Cromwell; Farrah Wind of Edmond; Autumn, Aubree, Averie, and Adrian Wind of Cromwell; and many nieces, nephews, and other children she treated as her own. A viewing will be held from 8:30 am until 11:30 am on Saturday, October 19th 2024, at McElyea & Owens Funeral Group, 5106 N Harrison in Shawnee. Funeral services will begin at 2 pm on Saturday October 19th, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Cromwell. Interment will be at the Little Cemetery following the funeral, under the directions of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group.
A dinner will be provided at the Cromwell Indian Community Center following Interment . Pallbearers include Nathan Williams, Bobby Whisnant, Jayce Williams, River Williams, Phierce Williams, and Steven Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be Keaton Wind, Ryder Wind, and Adrian Wind
