Alex Dean Miller, aka Humpty, a resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed from this life on March 31st, 2026 at the age of 57. Alex was surrounded by his siblings, nieces, nephews and other loved ones. Alex was born on January 9th, 1969 in Oakland, California. Alex was born to Alan D. Miller and Carol Ann Miller (Ell, Chiefelk). Alex was an enrolled member of The Blackfeet Nation of Browning, Montana. He was also from the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Dakota Sioux Tribe, Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma and The Muscogee Creek Nation. As a young boy Alex grew up in Browning, Montana, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Oakland and San Francisco, California. As a young boy Alex lived with his parents and family on Alcatraz Island during the Native American Occupation of Alcatraz in 1969. His home later, would be in Oklahoma where he attended school in Shawnee, Earlsboro, and later Strother Public Schools. He grew up going to Baptist churches and also a ceremonial way of life. He graduated with the class of 1988, with his sister Angela, at Strother High School. After high school, Alex became a roofer for most of his adult life and worked for Coates Roofing as a roofing foreman. Alex enjoyed going to concerts and was a collector of various memorable items. He loved to read about musicians and sometimes was able to meet different musicians while traveling on the road. Alex also enjoyed studying Native American History. He was an artist and liked to paint and knew how to do beadwork and was also a good cook. He could make meat pies and frybread and helped during the Pottawatomi Nation Festival making frybread for their tribal members. He enjoyed going to Pow Wows and would camp with friends at Sac and Fox Pow Wow. Later, Alex would quit his full time job to take care of his mom with the help of his siblings. He would become the guardian of his nephew Chuck, and spent many hours with him during hospital stays and doctor appointments. Alex was humble and never asked for much as long as he had gas in his vehicle and could find odd jobs to make ends meet. He loved his family and enjoyed helping at both ceremonial grounds in the Summer, and made sure his family was taken care of by fixing their camps, and building their bathrooms and showers. Alex is known for his sense of humour and will be missed by everyone. His family will miss him pulling up to the camp always ready, with a trailer full of tools or his car full of tools ready for the weekend. He was a well rounded person and believed in the power and strength of Ofvnkv and respected everyone and their differences in spirituality. As you read this, he had already lived a full life and God said it was enough for him on earth, and he would get to see the gates of heaven and his friends and family again.
