Carla Tapp Obituary

Carla Ann Tapp, a resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 62. She was born on December 22, 1963, in Santa Ana, California, to Carl Ray Tally and Sarah Bess (McGahey) Tally.
Carla was the definition of a true homemaker. Her home was a place of love, care, and constant thoughtfulness, as she was always attentive to the needs of her family. Carla's home was always full of life - you never knew who might be sitting at her table, but everyone left feeling loved. Friends, family, church members, and those in need were always welcome, and her open door reflected the generosity of her heart.
She worked as a church administrator and, beginning in 2003, faithfully served at Fresh Fire Ministries in Shawnee. Carla remained active in her ministry through 2026, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to doing the Lord's work. Her servant's heart was evident in the countless lives she touched through her kindness, encouragement, and willingness to help wherever she was needed.
Carla had a deep love for art and creativity. She found joy in painting, drawing, and sewing, and she delighted in sharing those talents with others. Whether she was teaching, encouraging creativity, or using her hands to make something meaningful, Carla believed art was another way to love and serve people. Her creativity reflected her gentle spirit and the beauty she saw in the world around her.
On December 30, 2003, Carla married the love of her life, Ed Tapp, in Shawnee. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Ray and Sarah Bess Tally. She is survived by her husband, Ed Tapp of the home; her children, daughter Desiree and her husband Doug Taron; son Jason Tapp; daughter Chasity Stepp; daughter Karlie and her husband Logan Wasson; and daughter Cassy Goode; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; as well as extended family, church family, and many dear friends.
Carla's legacy of love, service, creativity, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A memorial service for Carla will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Taproot Church, 22 E Dunlap in Shawnee with Pastor Joseph Wilkes officiating. Services are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
