Carrol Jean (Pleasant) Mayfield

Carrol Jean (Pleasant) Mayfield, of Shawnee, peacefully passed from this life on December 4, 2022, at the age of 83. She was born September 10, 1939, to Boyd Pleasant and Erie Fowler Pleasant in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She grew up in Garden City, graduated from Webster High School in 1957, and married Carl Mayfield on May 11, 1957. Together they had two daughters and lived in Tulsa many years before moving to Prague, OK. They also resided in Zapata, Texas and Tecumseh, Oklahoma.

Carrol was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She spent many years perfecting her hand- quilting, knitting, sewing, embroidery, and many other crafts. She loved learning to play the piano later in life. She could often be found listening to basketball and football games on the radio, reading books, newspapers, and doing word puzzles.

Carrol was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Mayfield, her parents Boyd and Erie Pleasant, Sister-in-law Jane Pleasant, and Niece Elizabeth (Libby) Pleasant.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Carla (Mayfield) Davis and Dan of Edmond, OK; Cheryl (Mayfield) Meshew and Jeff of Shawnee, OK; her granddaughters and grandsons-in-law Julia (Meshew) Wright and Paul, of Broken Arrow, OK; Jenna (Meshew) Potts and Curt, of Choctaw, OK; Sarah (Davis) Demeter and Benton, of Edmond, OK; and Jennifer (Davis) Terry and Dylan, of Wyandotte, OK; 11 great-grandchildren: Molly and Zoey Wright, of Broken Arrow, OK; Callan and Jace Potts, of Choctaw, OK; Brooklyn, Elayna, and Leo Demeter, of Edmond, OK; Delanie, Hawk, Cannon, and Sienna Terry, of Wyandotte, OK; her brother Boyd Wayne Pleasant of Turley, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Debbie Pleasant of Turley, OK; sister Linda (Pleasant) Shepherd of Sperry, OK; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A service will be held Friday, December 9, 2022, at 11:00 am at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1451 E. 45th Street, Shawnee, OK with Rev. Mark Wright officiating. Services are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
