Cruzita (Romero) Hernandez, a resident of Shawnee, OK, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 in Shawnee at the age of 78. Cruzita was born on January 9, 1945 in Roswell, New Mexico to Joseph T. Romero and Magdalena Mary Ellen (Guevara) Romero.

Cruzita married the love of her life, Max Hernandez on April 11, 1963 in Wilmington, Callifornia. The couple remained happily married for 60 years until her death. Cruzita and Max attended church for many years at the Downtown Pentecostal Holiness Church of Shawnee.

Cruzita loved to provide care to anybody in need. If people needed food, she would provide. She worked for several years as a home health care provider. If people needed shelter, she would offer a place to stay. The consumate caregiver lived to serve others. She often provided food and shelter for stray animals to make sure their needs were met. She also collected porcelain chickens. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a loving daughter and sister, wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be missed by her many friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her brothers, Joseph, Ross, Arturo, amd Orlando "Dean"; a sister-in-law, Linda Grajeda; and by two great grandchildren, Emilia Broadhead and Edward Hernandez.

Cruzia is survived by her husband, Max Hernandez of Shawnee; a daughter, Valarie Hernandez Broadhead and husband Brad of Trabuco Canyon, California; two sons, Michael Hernandez of Shawnee and Edward Hernandez of San Pedro, California; a sister, Mary Ohrioki of Torrance, California; two brothers, Waldo Romero and wife Becky of Redondo Beach, CA and Anthony Grajeda of Carson, California; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; as well as other extended family and many good friends.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held in California at a later date. Services are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee, Oklahoma.
