Damion Bates Obituary

Damion Christian Bates of Shawnee, Oklahoma, departed this life on December 15, 2022, in Shawnee at the age of 23 years.

Damion Christian Bates was born on November 8, 1999, in Shawnee. He was the son of Michael Eagle Wing Bates and April Stewart. He was raised in Maud, Oklahoma, by his father and mom Michael Bates and Desiree Bates. He attended school in Maud. Following his education, he began working for the Kickapoo Casino and later became a factory worker. He attended First Baptist Church in Maud. He enjoyed fishing, target practice, swimming, sitting on the beach and loved to cook as his dream was to be a culinary chef.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, and his maternal grandmother.

He is survived by his father. Michael Eagle Wing Bates of Shawnee; his biological mother, April Stewart of Shawnee; his mom Desiree Bates of Mcloud; two brothers, Taylor Stewart of Shawnee, and Adrian Stewart of Shawnee; three sisters, Shania Marshall of Kentucky, Harlie Bates-Hudgin of Kentucky, and Venus Bates of Shawnee; numerous other family and many friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am till 8:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2022, at the McElyea & Owens Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Maud, Oklahoma, with Rev. Bobby Shatto officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Konawa.
