David Abbey Obituary

Seminole resident David Jackson (DJ) Abbey passed from this life November 27, 2024 in SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

October 15, 2003 at 11am in New London Connecticut a red headed bouncing baby boy was born to StoreKeeper Petty Officer 2nd Class Submarine David Thomas Abbey and his wife Dahna Cheryl (Allensworth).  Little did DJ know the anticipation his family waiting his arrival in Oklahoma, Colorado and Keflavik, Iceland.

When DJ was 2 years old he and his mother Dahna moved to Seminole and was later joined by his father David.

DJ enjoyed his life with his family and they enjoyed him.  His Grandparents and Great Grandparents were wrapped around his finger.  Some memorable sayings:  “Papa lets go fishing”, “I need to go to the pawn shop”, “Grandma Ronda, we need to take a break and go to WalMart” and “I’m feeling sick Papa Boyce, I need go get a coke. Cokes are for sick folks.”  And one of the funniest times was him with a plastic shopping bag going about his Great Grandparents house picking up snacks and fruit.  When asked what his was doing DJ wouldn’t miss a set and say “Shopping”.  Everyone enjoyed having him around.  From Fair Grounds Arena at the “Big House” in Oklahoma City watching the Basketball State Finials dressed up like his Grandpa Bill officiating a game to the Live Stock Auction in Holdenville bidding on heifers with his Great Grandpa “Papa Boyce.” Yes they came home with a few ugly calves but Papa didn’t care.  He was a delight!

Later years as DJ grew older he found interest in TV shows like “Duck Dynasty” “Swamp People” and Sports.  He loved football. Was able to go to summer football camps hosted by OU in Norman, OSU in Stillwater and Houston Texans Camp in Houston TX.

Before DJ’s accident in 2019 he was really starting to take interest in the family farm.  He’d been purchasing cattle to build a herd of his own.  DJ and his parents also bought 5 bred Registered Angus cows to start showing calves in the fall.  He had turned into a pretty decent tractor driver to helping duringhay season.

Though the course of DJ’s life change that sad day in February 2019 inward he still knew his Lord and Savior.  Duringunsettling times for DJ his mother would play Christian music and programs reflecting the goodness of God along with taking him to church as much as possible.  His family is most definably sure he is safe with the Lord.  Too many prayers wereanswered concerning his life. God is Faithful!

David Jackson Abbey is proceeded in death by his Grandmother Ronda Allensworth that loved him so much. Great Grandfather “Papa Boyce” Allensworth. Great Grandmother Billie Jean Minter. His Uncle Robert “Bobby” Abbey.

He is survived by his parents David T and Dahna Abbey of the home.
