David C. Baird, Jr. passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at his home in Meeker at the age of 78.

David C Baird, Jr. was born in Norman, OK on July 14, 1945 to Ruth Pauline (Castle) Baird and David C. Baird. He graduated from Meeker High School with the class of 1963, and obtained an accounting degree from Oklahoma State University in 1972. He worked as CEO, CFO & Business Office Manager of various hospitals in Texas and Oklahoma. David retired with the rank of Captain from the Oklahoma Army National Guard after serving 22+ years. After semi - retiring from accounting work in 2008, he owned and operated Safe Passage Escort, LLC, an oversize load pilot car service for many years. He married Reba (Holland) Baird on August 20, 1965 at her parents’ home in Davenport. They have made their home at Meeker since 1992. He was preceded in death by his father, David C. Baird; mother, Ruth Baird and sister, Cherry Ruth (Baird) Smith Thibodeau.

David was an active member of First Baptist Church, Meeker. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Reba Baird of the home; sons, David C. Baird, III and wife, Lorie of Burleson, TX; Jason Lance Baird, and wife Angie of Oklahoma City; granddaughters Allison Larson & husband, Nic of Joshua, TX; Annie Curry & husband, Andrew of Ft. Worth, TX; Emma Bullard & husband, Cooper of Shawnee; Lindsey Baird and fiancé Ryan Depuy of Shawnee; his namesake great-grandson, Jonas David Larson of Joshua, TX; sister, Alta Segovia & husband Mark of Tulsa; brother, Bert Baird and wife, Janis of Edmond; brother-in-law, Joe Thibodeau of Bartlesville, and many other family and friends.

Dorn Weaver – Thank you for taking your “little brother" to lunch and to run errands almost every Thursday…it was always the highlight of his week!

Lanny Thompson – Thanks for being “on call” 24/7 over the past several years for whatever I needed…from picking David up after numerous falls to helping with projects around the house!

Frances Liberty; Kay Bruton; McKenzie Gutierrez – Thank you for your tender loving care for David over the past seven months! He may have not always remembered your names, but he always knew you were there to give him the best care anyone could give!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meeker First Baptist Church – Kitchen Ministry.

A memorial service will be conducted by Bro. Joe Jones of First Baptist Church, Meeker at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. A private family interment will be held at New Hope Cemetery, Meeker. Services are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
