David Ray Bruton was born to Hurdie Bruton and Marcella Oxenreider Bruton on April 20, 1950 in Springfield Missouri. David had 5 siblings Bonnie Bruton, Henry Bruton, Kathy Bean, and was preceded in death by Jeanie Lipscomb and Gary Bruton. David grew up in Rogersville Missouri and Springdale Arkansas. In David's sophomore year of high school, he saw Kay the first week of class and thought she was the prettiest girl in the whole school, his heart skipped a beat. There was only one thing wrong, he was afraid to talk to her, they had a couple classes together and he finally got the courage up to talk to her. One day in study hall, she told him she was cold, so he gave her his sweater to wear and that's where it all started. They started talking and became best friends and started dating shortly after. He graduated High School in May of 1969. On June 20, 1969 The day started out just like any other day David got up and got dressed for work at Zenith in Springfield Missouri the department he worked in had approximately 25 women in it the first lady that saw him there that morning started asking what he was doing at work. Today is a special day and he needed to be home getting ready for his wedding. By noon all of the ladies at work were telling him he must go home to see his bride. Finally he gave in and went home. The wedding ceremony didn't start until 6 PM so he had time to relax for a while. He went to Kay's house before time to go to the church and stood in the living room pretty as a picture. On June 27, 1970 they welcomed the most precious baby boy Jeffrey David Bruton into the world. David then started a new job in a civil service position working at the Army Reserve center as an automotive mechanic from December 1972 to April 1984. He spent 14 ½ years in the US Army Reserve working in the motor pool as a mechanic. On January 13, 1995 Jeff married Tanya Colborn and they had five kids, McKenzie Gutierrez and her husband Kevin, Micah Bruton, Madison Bruton and her fiancé Cade Patterson, Alex Bruton, and Austin Bruton. David and Kay were then blessed with two great grandchildren Henry Gutierrez and Emilia Gutierrez. In September 2006 he was ordained as a Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church in Republic Missouri. David was selected to be a member of The Gideons International in 2009 and helped in handing out New Testament Bibles. He started working with the AWANA ministry while attending Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin Missouri. David and Kay moved to Oklahoma in 2014 where they served at Forest Baptist Church alongside their son for many years. In 2017 they joined Meeker First Baptist Church where David served as a deacon, helped with security, and was involved in many other committees. David loved his family and his church family. He went to be with the lord on October 31, 2024.
