It is with heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Donald (Donnie) Ray New, who entered heaven on Monday, January 25, 2025, at the age of 65.
Today, we celebrate Donnie's life and the extraordinary person he was. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and generosity that will never be forgotten.
Donnie was a man who was loved deeply by his family, friends, and coworkers. His kind heart and selfless spirit was evident in everything he did. Whether it was volunteering his time, showing up daily to care for his beloved grandmother, or simply being a friend when someone needed him most. Donnie's actions spoke volumes. His unmatched friendship and loyalty will leave an incredible mark on all who knew him.
Born in Oklahoma City, Donnie was the son of Robert and Jean New. He was an active and eager child, participating in Cub Scouts, playing baseball, and embarking on mission trips. His experiences during youth camp at Falls Creek and volunteering as a hospital aid and showed his deep empathy for others.
Donnie graduated from Western Heights High-School in 1978, where he studied carpentry and drafting. He went on to technical school as an electrician and worked in various fields, including the oil industry and the assembly line at Dayton/Bridgestone Tire. Most recently he worked at Oklahoma City University Law School where he was the Facilities Manager. He was known and loved by the faculty, staff, and students. As a dedicated worker, he poured his energy into every job he took on, always with a sense of pride and integrity.
Beyond work, Donnie was a man who believed in the importance of family and friendship. He cherished those relationships and made sure the people in his life felt valued and loved. His generosity wasn't in grand gestures, but in everyday acts of kindness that meant so much to those who knew him.
We take Comfort in the knowledge that Donnie has entered into the next chapter of his life. Donnie found his way to eternal life through his faith in Jesus Christ and he his now enjoying the fullness of Heaven.
As the Bible says in John 14:6, "Jesus answered, I am the Way and the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the Father except through me."
Donnie's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his sister Marlene Hensley and husband Gary, brother Chris New and wife Lisa, his stepsons, Stephen and David Shaw, his nieces and nephew, and his step grandchildren and step great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert, his mother Jean, and his older brother Gary New.
A celebration of Donnie's life will be held at Woodland Hills Baptist Church, 313 S. Highway 76, Newcastle Oklahoma on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oklahoma Teen Challenge, a Christian program dedicated to helping both men and women break free from addiction and find hope in Christ.
