Donald Weddle Obituary

Donald Allen Weddle, age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, surrounded by his family in Jenks, Oklahoma.

He was born on September 21st, 1946, in Berkeley, California to Dorothy (Bowen) Weddle and C.H. “Buck” Weddle. He was raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma, alongside his brother Harold and sister Anna. He was a former football player for the Shawnee Wolves and later graduated in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy, serving his country for four years. Upon his return, he attended St. Gregorys Jr College and the University of Oklahoma. Shortly after, he met Diane Dockrey, and they were married on May 19th, 1972. Together, Donnie and Diane welcomed three beautiful children: Jennifer, Kandace and John. He later gained three Stepchildren: Cornell, Vanessa, and Yvette Brown. Donnie was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, the Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Shawnee Softball Association. In his younger years, he participated in Little League baseball and girls’ softball, coaching Jennifer, Kandace, and John. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, playing softball, watching Sooner football and softball, discussing politics, and became a regular at Ron’s, Hugo’s, and Daylight Donuts. Donnie lived in Shawnee for most of his life, owning Holiday 66 and Don’s Bargain Tire, as well as working at Freds Tire, where he displayed a wonderful knack for guidance, empathy, and overall great conversation. Later in his life, he moved to Jenks to be closer to his grandchildren. Donnie, better known as Pawpaw, was very involved in his grandchildren’s lives. Whether picking kids up from practice, dropping kids off at school, or taking the kids out for surprise lunch dates, he was always there. Donnie deeply loved his family and had a welcoming personality; he never met a stranger who he wouldn’t lend a listening ear to.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harold, sister Anna, brother in-law Fred Rutherford, in-laws John and Mary Sue Dockrey, Stepchildren Vanessa and Yvette Brown, and beloved dogs Hershey and Ozzie.

Donnie is survived by former wife, Diane Weddle; Sister-in-law, Nedra Weddle; Brother-in-law, Dennis Hudson; Children, Jennifer Loiacono-Batt, Kandace Taffee, John Weddle, and Cornell Brown; Sons-in-law, Garry Batt, Jason Loiacono, James Taffee Jr., James Siverhus, and Mark
