H. Dwayne Head of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on January 8, 2024, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years.
Dwayne Head was born on June 30, 1940, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Henry W. and Cleo (Kerr) Head. He grew up in Santa Anna, California, where he attended Santa Anna Public Schools. Following his education he moved with his family back to Oklahoma, where they bought a farm. He met Linda Sams, they married on December 20, 1963, and made their home in Meeker. He began working various jobs. In 1967 he began working as a machinist at Tinker Air Force Base. He met Norma (Greer) Standlee and they married in December 1971, and they raised their family in Meeker. Later Dwayne was a police officer for the town of Meeker, had an in-house business making fishing lures, and later sold patrol cars in Meeker. He enjoyed bass fishing and in the 1970s was the number 3 bass fisherman in the State of Oklahoma. He loved to buy and restore classic cars/hot rods and entered them in car shows, frequently winning trophies. He also enjoyed collecting pocketknives manufactured in the turn of the 20th century Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Norma; one son, Lonnie Standlee;
He is survived by three sons, Aaron Head and wife Teresa of Meeker, Mark Standlee of Prague, and Rodney Standlee and Lorri of Meeker; two daughters, Lisa Haney and husband Paul of Lee Summit, Missouri, and Sally Head of Meeker; six grandchildren, Jessica, Bryan, Mark Jr, Josh, Kayla, Kendra; fourteen great grandchildren; and one sister, Lynne Collins of Shawnee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
