Elmer Don Shannon, a resident of Shawnee, passed away in Shawnee on Sunday, December 12. 2021 at the age of 74. Don was born in Harrah, Oklahoma on December 27, 1946 to Elmer Frank Shannon and Belva Rae Carlisle Shannon.
Don grew up in the Choctaw area and attended school in Choctaw. At a fairly early age Don went to work doing concrete work and later worked on the railroads. Later in life, Don lived in Shawnee, where he attended the Evangelistic Center Church as a member. Don was a gun enthusiast, loved deer hunting and fishing, and raised many chickens over his lifetime. Don owned and operated a store on Highway 177 for several years before his retirement.
Don is preceded in death by his mother and father and a brother, Tommy Ray Shannon.
He is survived by two daughters, Angela Shannon Graves and husband Nicholas of Shawnee and Misty Shannon Layton and husband Brandon of Moore, Oklahoma; also by a son, Don Wesley Shannon of Norman; and 15 very special grandchildren.
Funeral services are currently pending with McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee. Service times will be released as soon as the information is finalized with the funeral home.
