Forrest Ray "Frosty" Barrett, a resident of Stroud, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 23, 2024 at the age of 91. Forrest was born on August 7. 1933 in Chandler, Oklahoma to Floyd Raymond Barrett and Ludie Emerine (Gilreath) Barrett.
Forrest grew up in the Lincoln County area and attended school at Davenport Public Schools, graduating from Davenport High School. Following high school Forrest served in the US Army for several years before receiving an honorable medical discharge following injuries he received during the Korean Conflict.
Forrest loved raising animals and was well known for raising pit bull dogs. He enjoyed raising cattle and other animals as well. He loved to fish and hunt, and especially enjoyed traveling around the US. Forrest worked primarily as a heavy equipment operator for many years. Most of all, Forrest was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather and he will be missed by the many people who knew him.
Forrest is preceded in death by his mother and father; and a son, Forrest Dale Barrett.
He is survived by a wife, Martha Branum; two sons, Leonard Ray Barrett and wife Lori of the home and Weston Lilllard Barrett and wife Jessica of Cottonwood, Arizona; a daughter, Janita Faye Abney and husband Paul of North Carolina; a brother, Alva Dale Barrett and wife Jeannie of Shawnee; ten grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; by other extended family and many good friends.
Following cremation, Forrest will be buried in Stroud, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group in Shawnee.
