Gail Hansen Obituary

Gail Ann (Alexander) Hansen, a resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away at home in Shawnee with her family by her side, on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at the age of 74. Gail was born on April 14, 1950 in Ouachita, LA to Thomas Alva Alexander and Margie Louise (Blackstock) Alexander.

As Gail grew up she shared time spent in Cleveland, Ohio, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and New Orleans, Lousiana and she attended school in each of those cities. After her schooling, Gail went to work in an egg factory where she worked for approximately 3 months. She later worked for Tom Edmond Trucking Company as a secretary. Gail met the love of her life, Christsen Vernon Hansen. They got married in 1969 in Ceres, California and spent 54 remarkable years together before Christsen passed away. Gail's Christian faith was an integral and ongoing factor throughout her lifetime. She exhibited the kind of faith that changes other people's lives and she will forever be remembered for this quality. During her senior years, Gail attended Hope Church of Shawnee faithfully. She was also a longtime member of Anderson Community Church in Anderson, California. Gail was also well known for her ability to make people laugh and many of her church friends and family will remember her zeal for life. She loved to sing, play games with her family, and play the guitar. And Gail loved the hummingbirds she fed and enjoy watching. In church, over the years she served as a Bible Study leader, a worship leader, and a Sunday School teacher.

She is preceded in death by her mother and her father, Margie L Alexander and Thomas Alva Alexander; her husband of 54 years, Christsen Vernon Hansen; and a grandson, Matthew Robertson.

Gail is survived by 3 daughters, Ruby Dee Chilcott and husband Dana of Turlot, CA, Kathleen Rachelle Terry and husband Roy of Shawnee, and Sharon Lynn Carrillo and husband, Eladio of Shingletown, CA; a son, Michael James Hansen and wife Nancy of Yreka, CA; two sisters, Georgia Lingo and husband Richard of Montana, and Mary Lynn Benfield and husband Tom of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a brother, Carl Ray Alexander of Anderson, California; by 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson; other extended family and many dear friends.

A service for Gail will be held at a later date. Time and place of the service will be added as soon as the time and date have been finalized. McElyea & Owens Funeral Group has been entrusted with arrangements.
