Gary Allen Serena of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away on October 26, 2022, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 54 years.
Gary Allen Serena was born on September 20, 1968, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Harry Robert and Norma Jean (Washington) Serena. Gary grew up in Shawnee attending schools in Shawnee and Eufaula. Following his education he traveled and lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he worked for Morrells Meat Processing plant and an apartment complex. He also received his HVAC licensing while in Sioux Falls. He married Susan Briones, and they made their home in Shawnee. He began working for the Absentee Tribe. He later moved to Oklahoma City. He was a practical joker, enjoyed working with his hands, woodworking, fishing and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Derek L. Serena; one sister, Florence Serena; one sister-in-law, Julia Serena; and two nieces, Desirea Serena, and Tashina Serena.
He is survived by one brother, Shawn Serena of Shawnee; two sisters, Lisa Serena of Oklahoma City, and Laveda Serena of Oklahoma City. His stepchildren, Joe, Maranda, and Alicia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at the McElyea and Owens Funeral Group Community Center. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
