George W. “Bill” Lee passed peacefully at his home on February 28, 2024, at the age of 87 years.
George was born May 7, 1936, in Nyssa, Oregon. He was the son of Jonas Lee Sr., and Leola May (Beeghley) Lee. He married Sandra Ray Gill on November 16, 1936. Over 40 years together, they welcomed four sons into their home. Sandra passed away on December 4, 1997. After her death Bill married Alameda Lee and they were married 19 years. Alameda passed away in 2018. George was a decorated member of the United States Army. He spent many years stationed in Germany along with two tours in Vietnam. He retired after twenty years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Jonas Lee Jr., Dale Lee, and Charlie Joe Lee; sisters, Betty Dykes, and May Snow; two sons, Kenny Lee, and Richy Lee; one great grandson, Chevy Lee.
He is survived two sons, Mike Lee and Patty, and Craig Lee and Debbie; one brother, Art Lee; one stepson, Gary Baker and wife Sandy; seven grandchildren, Amy Cowan and husband Josh, Cindy Jackson, Kenny Lee and wife Lara, Grant Lee and wife Megan, Dawson Lee and wife Shelby Lee, Stephanie Pittser, Charles Smith; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee, with Pastor Jimmy Ticer officiating. Arrangements are under McElyea and Owens Funeral Group – Shawnee. www.mcelyea-owens.com
