Helen LaVerne Armitage

Helen LaVerne (LaHue) Armitage of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on August 6, 2023, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 76 years.

Helen (Nanny) was born on March 27, 1947, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Marie (Paris) Lahue. She grew up in Shawnee where she attended Shawnee Public Schools, graduating from Shawnee High School on May 27, 1965. She married James G. Armitage on May 27, 1965, in Shawnee, and they made their home in Aydelotte, Oklahoma, before moving to Meeker in 1979. She worked as a vault manager for the Firelake casino. She enjoyed working in the yard, traveling to Las Vegas, going to the casino, beach and to their lake house, and she loved spending time going to her grandchildren’s sporting games and dancing competitions.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Taloah Townsend.

She is survived by her husband, James G. Armitage of Meeker; daughter, Tiffany Gear and husband Robert of Shawnee; one son, Scott Armitage and wife Shirica of Meeker; one sister, Jeannie Millard and husband Dennis of Broken Arrow; one brother, Joe Lahue and wife Ann of Shawnee; six grandchildren, Ryan and Christinia Jack, Logan Gear, Kellie Armitage, Kaitlyn Armitage, Kyle and Taylor Howard, Bridgette and Micah Sewell; and six great grandchildren.

No services are planned.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City.
