James Alexander Countz of Prague, Oklahoma, departed this life on February 21, 2025, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years.
James Alexander Countz was born in London, Arkansas. He was the son of Lawrence Alexander and Mary Alice (Spillers) Countz. He grew up in Martinez, California, attending Martinez Public School graduating from Martinez High School. Following his education he began working for a plumbing company. In 1959, He moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and began working for Southside Plumbing Company. He married Lucy Ann Earhart on December 5, 1960, in Oklahoma City and they made their home in Oklahoma City until 1970, when they moved to Prague, and began working for Childers Plumbing Company in Tecumseh. In 1973 he started Homeco Plumbing and in 1979, he went to work at Bartons Propane Company in Prague and in 1981 he started working for Allied in Stroud until 1985. In 1986 They moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he began working for Acme Plumbing. In 1991 they moved back to Prague, and went to work for Seaton Plumbing and in 1993 he began working for the Pipe Fitters Union local 344 for 8 years when he retired. Following his retirement, he continued to keep busy by working around the farm and doing odd jobs with his son. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin collecting, watching and playing sports and he loved taking his 1957 chevy to car shows from 2021 till 2024. He was a member of the Hope Church in Shawnee. James was very supportive through the years of his boy’s school activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his older brother, Roy Lee Countz.
He was survived by his wife Lucy Countz of Prague; three sons, Jerry Countz of Yukon, Oklahoma, Larry Countz and wife Patricia of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Mike Countz and his “Old Lady” Lisa; eleven grandchildren, Jared James Countz of Yukon, Oklahoma, Gabrielle Falks of Yukon, Pedro Countz of Pheonix, Arizona, Hannah Grimm of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Benjamin Countz of Harrisburg, Pennsyvania, Matthew Countz of Yukon, Oklahoma, Sallye Ann Biles of Ada, Oklahoma, Cody Michael Countz of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Dusty Colbert of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Tyler Colbert of Oklahoma, City, Oklahoma, and Rachel Watts of Shawnee, Oklahoma; eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Hope Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma, with Jerry Countz officiating. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery in Meeker.
