Joann Jones Obituary
Joann (Conger) Jones, a resident of Meeker, Oklahoma passed away on February 23, 2026 at her home in Meeker at the age of 81. Joann was born on December 19, 1944 in Los Angeles, California to Gus Roy Conger and Oleta Lois (Curtis) Conger.
She lived in California for the first several years of her life. While she was there she graduated from High School in Los Angeles. Joann met and married the love of her life, Robert Eugene Jones. They were married in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1970. They remained happily married until Robert's death on May 8, 2005. Joann was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother and she will be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.
During her early life, she attended Oklahoma City Community College where she earned an associate degree in accounting. She worked for several state entities during her career as an accountant within the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, including her last position with Mabel Bassett Correctional Facility. Joann was an avid reader, and loved following the home improvement television shows.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband Robert Jones; a sister, Patty; and a grandson, Scott William Jones.
Joann is survived by a daughter, Gwendolyn Brooks of Meeker; a son, Clifton Jones and wife Jana Jones of Meeker; a sister, Betty Sharp of Texas; grandchildren, Kelton Brooks and Billy Bird of St. Petersburg, FL, and Michael Wayne Jones of Lubbock, TX; and 3 great grandchildren; as well as other extended family and many good friends.
A graveside funeral service for Joann will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 10:00am at Oaklawn Cemetery in Spencer, OK. with Rev. James Walter officiating. Services are under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
