Letrice Guy Obituary

Letrice "Anita" Guy, a resident of Shawnee, OK passed away at her home in Shawnee on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the age of 87. Anita was born on August 17, 1937 in Thayer, Kansas to Robert Shockley and Effie (Hicks) Shockley. Anita's family moved from Kansas to California when she was a young girl. They later moved back to Kansas where Anita graduated from Thayer, Kansas High School.

Anita married the love of her life, Freddie Dean Guy on September 27,1964 in Thayer, Kansas. She remained happily married until Fred passed away.

As a young woman, Anita enjoyed playing volleyball. She attended church regularly and was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church of Shawnee, having earlier been active with the First Baptist Church of Altus. At Liberty she was a member of the singles class and enjoyed her friendships from the church. Anita loved to sew and enjoyed canning many types of food. Anita was a loving sister, daughter, wife, mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all her family and friends. Anita thoroughly enjoyed working with the Republican Party and was present for many campaigns and meetings. She loved her grandchildren and attended as many of their school ball games as she could.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Dean Guy; her mother, Effie Shockley and her father, Robert Shockley; a brother, Gene Shockley and sister-in-law, Marjorie Shockley.

She is survived by her son, Dean Guy and wife Elizabeth Guy of Meeker, OK; three grandchildren, Matthew Guy and wife Kelsie of Prague, Christopher Guy and wife Tabitha of Meeker, and by Zachary Guy and fiancee' Gentry Meyer of Oklahoma City; four great grandchildren, Asher Guy, Tinley Guy, Hazel Guy, and Maverick Guy; by other extended family and many good friends.

Following cremation, there will be a committal service at Buffalo, Kansas Cemetery on October 24, 2024 at 1:00pm. Arrangements were entrusted to McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
