Lula Mae (Looney) Ring

Lula Mae (Looney) Ring, a resident of Maud, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2023 in a Shawnee hospital at the age of 84. Lula was born on January 4, 1939 in Ada, Oklahoma to Lee Morelton Looney and Lula Goldie (Goss) Looney. Lula grew up in the Ada, Oklahoma are while attending school.

Lula married her husband Holbert Ring in Purcell, Oklahoma in 1968. She and Holbert remained happily married for 55 years prior to her death. Lula worked in several capacities but ended her working career as a school cook, serving 100's of youngsters every school day. Lula enjoyed working in her gardens and she was an avid reader. But most of all Lula loved her family. She was an exceptional daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by both her mother and father; her three brothers, Horace Looney, Elton Looney, and James Looney; a sister, Joanell Looney; and a son, Larry Ring.

Lula is survived by her husband, Holbert Ring of the home in Maud; two sons, James Ring and Thomas Ring, both of Maud; a sister, LaDonna Ballard and husband Barry of Edmond; by 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; numerous other extended family and many good friends.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
