It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mark Richard Dee, a beloved husband, caring dad, adoring grandfather, doting son, quick witted brother, fun loving uncle, and incredible friend. Mark departed our world on November 1st, 2024.
Mark has reunited with his soul mate and wife Cindy Dee, Grandson Robert Wolf, his Mother Marcia Dee, and Father Richard Dee.
Mark leaves behind his daughter Kiristen and son in law Bryan and two grandsons, Jackson and Colton. He is also mourned by his step mother Marcy O’Brien, his two siblings and their spouses, Shelly and Rod, and Robin and Terri, and numerous nephews, niece, cousins, and friends.
Mark was born in Lancaster California and raised in Capistrano Beach. He was raised with his older sister Shelly and younger brother Robin by a dedicated mother who taught them unconditional love, respect, and consequences.
Mark was a classic middle child, flying under the radar but full of love and mischief. He liked to spend his time with his siblings and friends causing chaos in the front yard, in the parks, and on the beaches. From a young age Mark was confident and carefree, enjoying everything that a young boy should. Mark enjoyed spending his time riding bikes, playing baseball, water skiing, fishing, camping, shooting, model building, playing the guitar, surfing on the High School surf team, but most importantly beating up his little brother.
Mark Graduated from Fountain Valley High School in 1997 and went on to join the U.S Army from 1997-1980 and was stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State. While Mark was proud of several accomplishments, he was always most proud to be an Army Veteran. He was in the 9th infantry Old Reliables, 2/77th Armor, an M88 Operator, a Recovery specialist and motor pool sergeant.
After the Army, Mark moved back to California where he started his work in aerospace. He built gas injection skids at Airco Cryogenics and worked at Ford Aerospace working on their air defense system and writing procedures. This gave him the knowledge and experience he needed to go on to electrical engineering. Mark worked for both Northrup Grumman and McDonald Douglas as a B-2 classified manufacturing engineer. In the 1990’s, Mark moved back to Washington state and began working for Northwest Composites as a manufacturing engineer. He then began working for Boeing as a wiring manufacturing engineer. Mark was a dedicated employee who would always help out when needed.
While working at Boeing, Mark met the love of his life Cindy. While they were not in the same programs, their paths continued to cross and bring each other together. Mark would say that Cindy’s strong personality and sense of humor drew him in, while Cindy would say that it was Marks strong calves and California tan that attracted her. While they were quick friends, it wasn’t until 2005 that Cindy introduced Mark to her 15 year old daughter, Kiristen. Mark was quick to acknowledge that he would be joining a family of 2 if accepted, and that he knew that was most important thing, but that if given the chance, he would love to be a part of their family. After all agreeing that they could see a future together, Mark and Cindy quickly went from dating to engaged, then married and forming a family.
In 2016, Mark and Cindy moved to Oklahoma. What started as an opportunity for work, quickly turned into a dream they never knew existed. While Mark grew up a California surfer boy, there was a cowboy just waiting to bust loose. Mark quickly remembered his passion for working with his hands and being outdoors. Mark and Cindy liked to spend their time camping, going to concerts and baseball games, playing cards, and spending
time with friends. When not doing these things, you could often find Mark in his garage or shop spending time woodworking or out in his yard shooting targets.
Mark was the epitome of a family man. He handled teenage hormones perfectly; became a supportive soccer dad, helped with drivers ed, breakups, friends, graduation, birthdays, and college. Mark didn’t just marry a woman, he also gained a daughter and became a dad. In 2018, Mark became a father in law when his daughter married the love of her life Bryan. Mark had always loved being a dad, but loved getting to share his passions with a new son. On January 21st 2019, Mark had one of the greatest moments of his life when he became a grandfather. There were very few things that made him more proud than being a Veteran, but being a grandfather was one of them. Mark went on to have 3 grandsons, Jackson, Robert, and Colton. Mark spent endless amounts of time going on lawn mower and tractor rides, going to sporting events, building trinkets, camping, and playing in the shop with his grandsons. Mark was the most proud grandfather and nothing made him happier than getting to play with his boys.
