Marlene Martha Shaw of Shawnee, Oklahoma , passed away on January 8, 2024 in Shawnee at the age of 92 years.
Marlene was born on February 23, 1931, in Franklin Square, New York. She was the daughter of Clarence and Gertrude Henrietta (Bayles) Tilley. She grew up in Franklin Square, New York, attending Franklin Square Public Schools. Following her education, she worked for the New York Telephone Company. She married Ordell Clair Shaw, Jr. in 1950 in Phoenix, Arizona, while making their home in Phoenix. She worked for Pacific Bell telephone for a few years. She furthered her education where she earned her Certified Accounting degree. Following her education, she began working as a CPA/Office Manager for Magadini and Associates. In 1972 Ordell was transferred to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they lived for 10 years. She and her husband retired in Mexico where they celebrated 51 years of marriage. Ordell passed away in 2001. She continued to live in San Carlos, Mexico where they had lived for a total of 32 years, before moving to Shawnee, Oklahoma to be close to family. In 2021 she lived with her daughter Lori in Corpus Christi, and then moved back to Shawnee to remain in her daughter Ellen's care until her passing. Marlene was an avid golfer and had three hole-in-ones in tournament play during her tenure as an active golfer. She loved to water ski, fish, hunt, and loved being around water. She also enjoyed oil painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Bruce Tilley.
She is survived by two daughters, Ellen Reeves and husband Tony of Shawnee and Lori Needham of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren, Kristen Reeves, James Owen, Kara Reeves, Julie Flow, and Michael Reeves; fourteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
