Long time resident of Meeker Oklahoma Michael Wayne Baptista made his journey to the other side on Feb 14th 2025. He was 70yrs old born March 24th 1954 Hayward Ca to Ernest and Christine Baptista. He moved to Oklahoma after marrying Loretta Wiley Jan. 2nd 1981 where they made their home and raised their family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44yrs Loretta Baptista, His Daughter Melody and son-in-law Randall Scott of Ok, One Stepson, 6 grandchildren of Ok, 1 granddaughter of VA, and 1 great-granddaughter of Ok. Sister Ann Marie Jackman and husband Charlie of Ok, Brother Joseph Baptista of Ok, Brother Ernest Baptista wife Sandy of Ca, Sister-in-law Debra Wiley Austin of Ok, Sister-in-law Bonnie Wiley of Ok as well as numerous family and many friends. He is also proceeded by his parents and many loved ones. Michael was a truck driver for many years. He retired from Wolverine Tube in Shawnee Ok. He enjoyed bowling with his daughter, trips to the casino, and riding his motorcycle. He loved music more than anyone we know. He had a thirst for knowledge. He spent many hours reading and studying. He had tremendous integrity. His laughter could light up a room. He had a unique bond with his many pets over the yrs. Mike was one of most kind and generous man you could hope to meet. He had a genuine love for life and didn't like to sit still for long, as there was always some adventures to be had out in the wild world. He was a true friend to many and his absence leaves the world with less joy and wonder than when he walked among us. He will be greatly missed until we meet.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 2pm until 4pm at Brickhouse Saloon, 113-1/2 N Bell, in Shawnee. McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee is handling arrangements.
Donations can be made to the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center for Lymphoma. (In lieu of flowers) Please make memorial gifts payable to OU Foundation/Lymphoma Research.
