Norma Daffer Obituary

Norma Imogene (Barnes) Daffer of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on October 22, 2021, in Norman at the age of 91 years.

Norma Imogene (Barnes) Daffer was born on August 5, 1930, in Mount Carmel, Illinois. She was the daughter of Clyde and Eatha Barnes. She grew up in Mount Carmel attending Mount Carmel Public Schools and graduating from Mount Carmel High School. Following her education she married George Roy Daffer Sr., and they made their home in Mount Carmel until 1967 when they moved to Norman. She then began her dress shop, Mode – O- Day, in Norman operating it for a few years. She then began working for the Norman Public Schools in foodservice and later worked as a bookkeeper at the Security National Bank. In September of 1970, George preceded her in death, and she continued to make Norman her home. She enjoyed crocheting, animals, and coaching her son Steve’s baseball team and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin Daffer; one sister, Juanita Barnes; and four brothers, Leo, Chester, Doyle, and Lewis Barnes.

She is survived by two sons, George Roy Daffer Jr., of Norman, and Steve Daffer of Norman: and two grandchildren, Lauren Daffer of Norman, and Zach Daffer of Norman.

Visitation will be on Wednesday at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1777 East Robinson, from 1:00 pm till 8:00 pm

Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Immanuel Baptist Church in Norman with Rev. Ken Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Memory Gardens in Oklahoma City.
