Patricia Marie (Garner) Scroggins, lovingly known as Pat, Trisha, and Granny Patty, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 72 years old.
Patricia was born on August 23, 1953, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She attended Shawnee Public Schools and graduated in 1971. During that time, she also attended Gordon Cooper Area Vo-Tech, where she studied Health Occupations. Patricia spent much of her career working in the medical field in various roles including accounting, billing, data entry, and office management.
On June 4, 1971, she married Robert Lane Scroggins in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They made their home there while Robert pastored at her home church, Northeast Free Will Baptist Church. In 1973 they joyfully anticipated the birth of their first child, Lance Patrick Scroggins, who was stillborn on March 26, 1973. Two years later, they welcomed their son, Travis Wayne Scroggins, born in Ada, Oklahoma. On August 11, 1980, their daughter, Shelli Ranae Scroggins, was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Patricia attended The Church of Acts in Oklahoma City and especially loved the worship and praise services. Anyone who sat near her quickly discovered how much she loved to sing. Much of Pat's life growing up revolved around church and music. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 11 and was baptized alongside her mother in a country pond. She cherished memories of church camp and the Fifth Sunday Singing Conventions held outside Ada, Oklahoma.
Throughout her life, Patricia served in many areas of ministry, but she developed a special passion for teaching God's Word. One of her greatest callings was encouraging and counseling women. She had a rare gift for listening and often spent hours with women who came to her with their worries and struggles. Her home became a haven for many, and over time this led to the beginning of a women's ministry. She loved helping women discover their true identity in Christ. Patricia often said that God places people in our lives at just the right time, and this was certainly true of the many friends and family members who shaped and blessed her journey. She found great joy in studying Scripture, talking about God's Word, and sharing both laughter and tears with those she loved.
Patricia lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and service to others. Her heart was always open, her door was always welcoming, and her words were often filled with encouragement and wisdom. She had a special gift for reminding people that God sees them, loves them, and has a purpose for their life. The impact she made in the lives of so many women, friends, and family members will continue long after her passing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale J. Garner and Edith Marie Garner of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her brother, Michael Dale Garner of Los Banos, California; her brother-in-law, Corky Cobbs of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and her son, Lance Patrick Scroggins of Wichita Falls, Texas. We find comfort in knowing they are now reunited and rejoicing together in Heaven.
Patricia is survived by her two sisters, Dee Ann Cobbs of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Angela Watson and her husband Rick Watson of Noble, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her two children, Travis Scroggins and his wife Theresa Scroggins of Lebanon, Missouri, and Shelli Harding and her husband Cory Symes of Norman, Oklahoma.
She absolutely adored her grandchildren and treasured every moment spent with them. Her grandchildren include Katlyne Scroggins and Kourtney Scroggins of Centerville, Ohio; Emarie Harding of Norman, Oklahoma; Justine Tamayo and her spouse Zach Green of Lebanon, Missouri; Julia Gunter and her spouse Chase Gunter of Lebanon, Missouri; and Jasmine Tamayo of Lebanon, Missouri. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Juliette Kelley and Zeppelyn Green.
Throughout her life, Patricia was surrounded by loving aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and church family who meant so much to her. Their love, laughter, and shared faith were a constant source of strength and joy in her life.
We would like to give special recognition to friends who faithfully stood by her through the years: Barbara and Kenneth Ingram and their extended family, Ashley and Jim Weaver, Irma and Antonio Flores, Tracy Hughlett, and Darla and Roy Fountain. Our family is deeply grateful for the love, support, and friendship you showed her. Those gifts never went unnoticed and will always be deeply remembered.
Her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will live on in all who were blessed to know her. While our hearts grieve her absence, we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she loved so deeply. One day, we will see her again.
