Rodger Dale Hoskins of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022, at his home, at the age of 70 years. Although he will be dearly missed by his family and friends, they find comfort knowing that after a lifetime of health complications and pain, his body as been renewed and he is no longer suffering.
Rodger was born in Paramount, California to Vernon Lee Hoskins and Georgia Tipton Hoskins on December 13th, 1951 and was the middle of three boys.
As a young man, Rodger worked as a licensed hairdresser and barber in California and Washington before returning to Oklahoma with his parents in the early 1980s. Upon moving to Oklahoma, his love for tinkering and building lead him to pursue a career in carpentry and construction.
On August 4th, 1988, Rodger married the light of his life, Cheryl Ann Hoskins. They had a beautiful, love-filled marriage for the last 34 years. He was a devoted husband, loving father to four daughters, doting grandfather, and an exceptional friend.
Rodger is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Georgia Hoskins.
Rodger is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Hoskins; Daughters; Ashley and husband Chantry Smith, Kimberly and husband Jason Feuerstein, Brandi and husband Aaron Barrett, and Erika and husband Brian Moore; Twelve grandchildren; Kace, Bowen, and Canaan Smith, Bailey and Riley Feuerstein, Alissa, Hailee, and Savannah Barrett, Deiandra Hoskins-Sanders, Aliya Hoskins, Tirahliyn and Arthur Moore; Great-grandchildren; Bentley, Silver, and Lincoln Sanders; Brothers Vernon Jr., and Scott Hoskins; as well as, a host of close cousins, nieces, and one nephew.
A Celebration of life is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, August 19, 2022, at the McElyea and Owens Funeral Group Community Center. Other arrangements are pending with McElyea and Owens Funeral Group - Shawnee
