Ronny Bennett Norred, Sr.
November 22, 1938 – June 15, 2025
Ronny Bennett Norred, Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Wanette, Oklahoma, on June 15, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on November 22, 1938, in Dallas, Texas, Ronny lived a full and purposeful life marked by hard work, kindness, and unwavering love for his family.
A proud veteran, Ronny served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960, achieving the rank of Airman Second Class before being honorably discharged. After his service, he became a dedicated businessman, known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit.
Ronny had a deep passion for growing things—vegetables, flowers, and trees alike. He nurtured them all with the same care he gave to the people in his life. With a true green thumb, his gardens reflected his patience and quiet joy. Known for never meeting a stranger, Ronny had a gift for conversation and a warm, welcoming nature that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by his three children: Ronny B. Norred, Jr., Troy R. Norred, and Debbie Norred Brenkman; and by his beloved grandchildren: William Chance Norred, Troy M. Norred, Sarah E. Norred, Tristan A. Norred, Trenton D. Norred, Timmy W. Black, and Cassandra R. Black. He is also survived by his former wife, Linda Norred, with whom he shared many meaningful years.
Ronny was preceded in death by his mother, Mollie Scanlon, and his sister, Sandra Darling.
His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate to know him. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, deep wisdom, and good humor.
A viewing and remembrance will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at McElyea-Owens Funeral Group in Shawnee, Oklahoma (5106 N. Harrison St).
