Rose Marie (Reese) Hailes, a resident of Shawnee, OK and former Midland/Odessa area resident, passed from her earthly life into the arms of God on Saturday, March 16, 2024 in Shawnee at the age of 87. Marie was born to Ernist Alvin Reese and Allie Beatrice (White) Reese on April 29, 1936 in Prescott, Arkansas.
Marie attended cosmetology school and received an Associate's degree in Cosmetology, and worked at the Beauty School in Odessa. Marie married the love of her life, Arthur Hailes, Jr. in Odessa, Texas on July 29, 1955. They remained happily married for 67 years until Arthur's passing on September 13, 2022. Marie was an accomplished homemaker, but also spent approximately 8 years working for the US Postal service in Goldsmith, Texas.
Marie was a deeply convicted Christian who loved her church and church families during her life. She loved to crochet, was well known for the clothing she crafted, and will always be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all of her family and many good friends.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Arthur and her mother and father.
She is survived by her two sons, Arthur Hailes and wife Cheryl Hailes of Shawnee and David Hailes and wife Lisa Hailes of Midland, TX; by a daughter, LeeAnn Widner and husband Bert Widner of Kermit, TX; a brother, Joe Reese of San Francisco, CA; by seven grandchildren, Debra Samples and husband Matt, Jennifer Stevenson and husband Matt, Joshua Hailes, Brandon Hailes, Alicia Singleton and husband Jason, Christian Harlan and husband David, and Danika Saenz and husband Diego; by 5 great grandchildren, Cameron Singleton, Carter Singleton, Canon Harlan, Esther Harlan, and Janeen Singleton; by numerous other extended family and many good friends.
The family has indicated they will be having a memorial service for Marie in the Midland, Texas area soon. As soon as the time and place of that service has been determined, we will release service times and place for those who would like to attend.
