Segreta Davis Obituary

Segreta Mae Davis, known to many as Skeeter and a resident of Tecumseh, Oklahoma, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, January 29, 2022 in Shawnee at the age of 84.  Segreta was born on October 14, 1937 in Jasper County, Missouri to Albert Elmer Williams and Emma Ava (Coy) Williams.  She later lived in the Tulsa, OK area and then moved to Oklahoma City.  She attended Capital Hill High School. She was a Christian, read her bible faithfully, and enjoyed discussing God's word.  Many things from the bible puzzled her, her curiosity helped her learn and live in reaching God's truths.

Segreta really enjoyed the chance to make friends.  She had made several new friends since moving to her new apartment.  One of her special friends Jeannie began as her caretaker and housekeeper but later became one of her most trusted friends.  When she moved into the senior retirement community she didn't realize just how much she would enjoy it or the relationships she would build.  The next six years ended up being her happiest, thanks to great friends like her neighbors Ronnie and Margaret, and with all her friends.  During these last years she proved to herself and to everyone that she had become such a strong independent woman, living alone.  Segretta had such a tender and sweet spirit and a heart of gold.  She always thought of and worried about everyone she knew, even for those she didn't know.  She never had much in life but what she did have she was thankful for and always was generous with those that wanted or were in need.  She loved to laugh and got tickled quite easily and was considered "safety" to many.

She was a loving homemaker and an exceptional friend.  She loved to cook and can food items, did all kinds of crafts, and became a collector of bright and beautiful things.  She enjoyed gospel and country music, but loved listening to IL Divo.  Often you could hear her singing and humming.  Segreta loved crafting and buying pretty things. She was an attentive mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she loved her family dearly and she will be missed by the many people who knew and loved her.

Segreta married Chester Warren Davis on October 29, 1954 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Chester preceded her in death, passing in October, 2020.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her grandparents, her husband, and her son-in-law(son) Darrell Wakley.

Segreta is survived by her daughter, Linda Murphy and husband Michael of McLoud, OK; daughter, Sharon Harvell of Goldthwaite, TX; a daughter, Vicki Wakley of Chandler; and a son, Eddie Davis and Donna of Oklahoma City; by 13 grandchildren, Jason Bierman, Adam Bierman, Cameron Murphy, Eddie Davis II, Nick Davis, Chad Davis, Amanda Brown, Ashley Harvell, Johnny Harvell Jr, Daniel Wakley, Bobby Wakley, Brian Wakley, and Adrian Alissa Wakley; several great grandchildren; other extended family and many good friends.  She also leaves behind her special little dog, Sally whom she adored.

The family has designated the Wounded Warrier Project, PO Box 758516. Topeka, KS 66675 as appropriate for memorial contributions.

The family will announce a public committal/burial service to be held at a future date at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Newalla.  Arrangements have been entrusted to McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
