Sharon Louise (Wooley) Bender passed from this earthly life on October 9, 2023 in Yukon, Oklahoma at the age of 74. Sharon was born on December 12, 1948 to James and Lena Wooley.
Sharon grew up in Oklahoma, attending Oklahoma City Public Schools, where she graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1968. Sharon married the love of her life, Bobby Bender on August 13, 1970 and they remained enjoined until Bobby's death on January 8, 2014. Sharon and Bobby started their family and Sharon was a stay at home mom for several years until her children were in high school. Sharon worked along side her daughter, delivering pizzas for Godfather's Pizza in Oklahoma City. She later worked with John A Brown Department Store in Oklahoma City for several years. Later in life, Sharon worked as a cash office clerk with Griders Grocery Stores for several years. Sharon loved bowling and is remembered as an avid reader. She also loved going to the casino with friends and family.
Above all, Sharon loved her family and she was a wonderful daughter, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by her family and faithful neighbors as well as a life-time full of friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Bobby Bender; a son, Travis Bender; and a very special sister, Delores Hornsby.
Sharon is survived by a daughter, Tammy Slover and husband Jim of Oklahoma City; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Bender of Oklahoma City; 2 granddaughters, Amanda Slover and husband Robbie Hogan of Yukon and Candice Slover and fiance' Henry Cline of Oklahoma City; as well as other extended family and many good friends. She was especially fond of her family pets including 12 dogs and 2 cats belonging to her grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
