Sherry Ann Jacobs, 69, of Holdenville, OK, passed away on August 19,2024, at her home after a long battle with dementia. Sherry was born in Bakersfield, California, on July 28,1955, to Shirley Ann George and Ralph Hunter. Through her childhood and upbringing with 3 brothers she gained a tenacity for life and a strong will. Employing that stubbornness to the very end, Sherry fought until her last breath to remain here with those she loved. Sherry will be remembered most by those who knew her as being unapologetically herself. Adorned in tie-dye, turquoise, and knee-high boots, she tackled the world head first and head strong. Amongst her other notable characteristics was the ability to love unabashedly. Sherry’s heart simply knew no bounds, and she always leapt at the opportunity to love and be loved by those around her. Those loved by Sherry were fortunate enough to experience true, unconditional love at her hands. Benefitting from this love most was her husband, Glen, of 53 years. They lived a life full of travel, witty comebacks, and a shared love of good music. Through their life together they welcomed three children, 9 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. Two of those grandchildren, Sherry and Glen willingly took on the responsibility of raising as their own. Sherry was a nurturer at heart and took pride in caring for her children and her home. Sherry enjoyed cooking, cleaning, and collecting any object that brought her joy. If her collection of things was anything to go by, she was certainly full of joy. Much of that joy she got from reading. Sherry was an avid reader. Sherry loved nothing more than reading a good book and sharing those stories with those around her. Sherry instilled a love for literature and knowledge in her family and made sure to keep a home where a good book was always within arms reach.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Ann George and Ralph Hunter; and her grandmother, Grace George.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Glen Jacobs; their three children Katherine Waun, Glen (Pam) Jacobs, and Rhonda Sharrock; grandchildren Ryan Jacobs, Leah (Raphael) White, Madison (Logan) Richards, and Paige Martin; great-grandchildren Hayden Watters, Presley Jacobs, Wren White, Remington White, Atlas Richards, Henley Richards, and Ezra Tiger; brothers Ralph Hunter, John (Chris) Hunter, and Lloyd (Tammy) Hunter.
Despite her declining health, Sherry maintained a positive outlook on life and kept everyone laughing. With her passing an immeasurable absence will be felt, but as she would always say — even the hard stuff is felt best with both hands.
