Vicky Haley Obituary

Vicky A. Haley 81, longtime resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 8, 2025, at The Regency facility in Shawnee Oklahoma. She was born April 18,1944 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Victor G. and Avis A. (Boggs) Thrasher.

She was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Ma, a beloved nickname given to her by her oldest Grandchild Chris King. But many other neighborhood and special children in her life also called her their Ma and she loved each as her own.

She grew up in Seminole Oklahoma and attended Seminole High School, where she met the love of her life Richard (Dick) Haley. They married in 1962 and had two children, Robin Louise Haley, born February 22, 1964, and Richard Dale Haley born December 28,1967.

She was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young and later worked at Liberty school cafeteria. A few years later her and Dick started their own business, Haley's Backhoe Service in 1981. They retired in 2022.
She was a Campfire Girls leader when Robin was young and a Sunday school teacher and was involved in several Vacation Bible Schools throughout the years.

Vickys world revolved around Dick, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always doing for everyone even when she was barely able, due to health issues. She attended countless ballgames and anything they were doing at school or church and was always there to support and cheer them on. There was nothing she loved more. She was a collector of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls and anything she could find related. She loved Elvis Presley and OU Football and Softball. She was so creative, always making clothing or special blankets and doll clothes for the children in her life. Holidays were her favorite times and were always spent at Ma and Papas house. She always made them extra special, especially Christmas, making homemade Christmas cookies each year with her grandchildren and having special ornaments for each one. She had a huge heart for everyone but especially the elderly. When her mother became blind and disabled, she had to live in a nursing home. Vicky went at least three times daily to feed her and other residents too. The residents knew her and would flock to her every day to get hugs and love which she gave in great amounts.

When she had to go to live in The Regency facility herself, she made many friends who to her were like family. Many have told the family how she had a piece of their hearts and was so very special to them. Her kindness and love for everyone she met was unending.

She is survived by a daughter and son in law Robin and Bobby King of Shawnee and a Son and daughter in law Rick and Carol Haley of Tecumseh. A grandson Chris King and wife Dailyn and granddaughter Caitlyn Kahrahrah and husband Richmond. Grandson Devin Haley and Granddaughters Maegan B Haley and Meagan D. Hernandez and husband Jimmy, Erika Morris and husband Isaac. Great grandsons Cash Kahrahrah and Ezra Morris and great granddaughters Naomi Morris and Anna Morris. A brother, Donald Thrasher and an uncle, Burl Boggs, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Avis (Boggs) Thrasher of Seminole, Oklahoma, and husband Dick Haley of Shawnee, Oklahoma.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 8th at Sharon Baptist Church Shawnee, Oklahoma fellowship hall from 2-4pm. It is a come and go celebration.

The family would like to thank Brother Clint Dawkins for his amazing care and support through this time and for many prayers and visits with Vicky and family. Also, a big thank you to Good Shepherd Hospice and The Regency staff for their great care and compassion for the family, especially Vicky. And a special thanks to the many wonderful friends and neighbors who came to visit her often after Dicks passing. It truly meant so much to her.
